About the Data Behind MedicareGraph™

MedicareGraph™ is a semantically structured data platform developed by MedicareWire.com to improve access to accurate, enriched, and machine-readable Medicare Advantage plan information. Our system transforms public data published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) into intelligent, queryable, and transparent datasets for consumers, publishers, researchers, and AI systems.

Data Sources

All MedicareGraph data originates from publicly available CMS datasets, including but not limited to:

CMS Star Ratings Dataset
Monthly Enrollment Reports

Each dataset is sourced from CMS.gov and is covered under USA.gov Government Works licensing.

Data Enrichment Pipeline

MedicareGraph enhances the CMS data by:

Normalizing CMS contract IDs and plan IDs (e.g., H0028-062-0)
Creating alternate representations for public search alignment (e.g., H0028 062, H0028 - 062 - 0)
Associating plan data with ZIP and county-level geography
Annotating plan availability, type, and drug coverage
Structuring schema with rich metadata, including:
- Dataset
- Product
- Service
- HealthInsurancePlan
- FAQPage
Publishing enriched data to https://medicaregraph.com via JSON-LD, REST APIs, and embedded endpoints

Structured Data Standards

All enriched plan data is published using schema.org vocabulary in JSON-LD format. Each plan record includes:

@type: Dataset, referencing CMS origins with isBasedOn
alternateName to reflect common public search formats
identifier for CMS plan ID and year
mainEntityOfPage for canonical linkage
audience and contactPoint for real-world clarity

Our markup is validated using Google’s Rich Results Test and supports Knowledge Graph alignment.
